I started putting up some recipes of things you can make or ideas for you for food during this Liver Gallbladder Flush.  Scroll through and click on the pictures and it should come up in another window.

Remember to eat clean and minimally processed. Fat isn’t to be demonized, just don’t want to be having stuff with tons of fat especially oil. So, having nuts and seeds is good is a good thing, just not any on the 6th day.

Eat apples. Drink water.

Hummus and veggies is always good.  A smoothie. A green juice of some sort. Kombucha. Fruit. A Salad.

Make you salad a bit heavier (more filling) by adding avocado, nuts, coconut bacon, beans, or sauteed veggies. Or even a veggie burger on top. Hilary’s is a good brand, Beyond Meat Beast Burger has a really meaty taste, Dr Praeger’s TexMex or Bombay Burger, or Trader Joe’s Quinoa Cowboy Veggie Burger.

Link to 3 Day Juice Cleanse

So we are trying out this 3 day juice cleanse tomorrow and would love it if you joined with us! The link is right above this (titled Link to 3 Day Juice Cleanse) You know, doing a juice cleanse is rough, but it’s lots easier to do with you are doing it with other people at the same time. We really want your your thoughts, opinions and experiences during the cleanse as well as afterwards. We really liked the variety of juices used in this cleanse as well as the fact that all 3 days have different juices. I did this cleanse last week, so I thought that I would give some thoughts and ideas to make it go a bit easier (and help you not feel like you are alone or odd).

  • Juice cleanses are often a test of wills more than anything else. Mind over matter. Your brain and mouth will be telling you “I want to chew!” rather than “I am hungry”. You might be hungry, have some water or next juice. You will absolutely want to chew, but you will be getting plenty of nutrients. You can do this!!
  • I always suggest getting organic, but if you can’t for all of them get it at least for the apples, cucumbers, celery, tomato & (if you can) bell pepper
  • If you can’t finish all of the juices, don’t worry, it’s fine.
  • Drink each juice keeping in mind that it’s a meal! So, drink it slow, swirl it around in your mouth.
  • If you can have the juice over ice, it usually tastes even better.
  • Most people don’t have the luxury of being able to juice 5 different times though out the day to make it so its “make & drink”. It’s lovely if you juice it the night before and keep it in the fridge (& bring to work to put in the fridge).
  • For me, drinking half of one juice then waiting another 30-60 min to drink the other half helped me avoid having that sloshy juice stomach.
  • Don’t forget to drink water during the day
  • Might want to weigh yourself each morning before you have anything to drink, as well as the day after you finish. Totally not needed, but sometimes interesting just for yourself to know.

Here is a grocery list for each day.

Day 1

  • 6 apples
  • 4 carrots
  • 3 cucumbers
  • 6 celery stalks
  • 2 red bell peppers
  • 2 red beets
  • 4 plum tomatoes
  • 12-16 leaves of kale
  • 6-8 leaves swiss chard
  • 2 cups parsley
  • 1 sweet potato
  • 1/4 red onion
  • 6 clementines or 2 oranges
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 lime
  • 2 inches fresh ginger
  • 1 orange, optional

Day 2

  • 6 cups Concord Grapes (can use black grapes)
  • 1 Golden Delicious Apple
  • 3, 2×2″ pieces ginger
  • 1/2 cup Blackberries
  • 2 Granny Smith (green) Apples
  • 5 cups Spinach
  • 4 cups Kale leaves (12-16 leaves)
  • 3/4 Lemon
  • 2 large Red Beets
  • 2 medium Carrots
  • 5 stalks Celery
  • 4 Plum Tomatoes
  • 4 cups Parsley
  • 1 Jalapeno, ribs and seeds removed
  • 12 Red Radishes
  • 1 Fennel Bulb
  • 1 1/2 Cucumber
  • 2 Broccoli stalks
  • 1/2 head or 2 wedges Green Cabbage

Day 3

  • 6 Apples
  • 4 Carrots
  • 2 Red Beets
  • 12-18 leaves swiss chard
  • 2″ ginger root
  • 4-5 cups Spinach
  • 2 Cucumbers
  • 8 stalks Celery
  • 1/2 Fennel Bulb
  • 2 bunches Basil
  • 1 bunch Parsley (approx. 4 cups)
  • 3 Tomatoes
  • 1/4 Red Onion
  • 1/2-1 Lemon
  • 1-2 cloves Garlic
  • 2 cups Kale
